The USS Eversole received a change of orders Mid April 1961 to rejoin The USS Coral Sea and TG. 77.4 off Coast of Hong Kong B.C.C. The Eversole participated in a joint seato Amphibious operation "Pony Express" Task group departed for Borneo on April arriving off the coast February 26th.
The situation in Laos had become critical. The Eversole was ordered to proceed to Laos 150 miles off of Coast of Vietnam.

∙ 15y agoThe USS Eversole served 2 tours in the Korean War but never in the Vietnam War. She was transfered to Turkey in 1973.-----------This is incorrect the USS Eversole DD-789 did serve in Vietnam. She is a proud member of the Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club. I know this because my father served aboard her and I have his cruise book back at home. So if anyone remembers my dad hit me up he is ET3 Robert J.
