No, they were how ever about to get married when sam told diane to leave so she could work on her book. A few days earlier that guy from the first episode came in and said that her book was genius and told her to come to California to work on it. She was about to marry sam in a few days so she declined, but sam didnt want her to wonder for the rest of her life, so he told her to leave and she never came back. (She said she would be back in 6 months though).
