Yes, you can always 'file a claim', would've been better of course had you stayed at the scene (and left your car where it was) and the police could've documented the angles, point of impact etc. Did you get any info? Plates? If so that will be helpful, I would probably call the police now, and get a report on record, so the other party doesn't report it just the oppisite....Also turn in your claim immediately.
Yes, you do not need a police report to file a insurance claim.
It will not go against your insurance because a claim has not been filed only a police report.
It depends on how smoothly you want the insurance claim to go. Generally, insurance companies resist paying if there is no report to the police.
Yes you can.
If you we in the vehicle, you can get a copy of the Police Report from the Police records department.

The insurance company is not required to report a hit and run to the police but in most all personal auto policies, the insured is required to report a hit and run to the police before the insurance company will treat the claim as an uninsured motorist claim. This is usually a policy requirement.
Yes, you will need to report your accident to the police. You should report all accidents to the police, so that you can file a claim with your insurance.
One can make an insurance claim by calling their insurance company. If a car accident is the reason one needs to make a claim a police report must first be made. Other insurance claims can often be filed at the insurance companies website.
You'll need to report it stolen. The insurance provider will require a police report before they'll honor your claim.
Sure. People can claim anything. The question is will your insurance pay the claim. Without a police report of the accident, you may be in for a lawsuit. Never ever, have an accident and fail to call the police.
