Can you replace just the lower main bearings in a small block Chevy?

Do you mean to change just 1/2 of a main bearing, the one that is easily removeable from the main cap? That's not something you want to do. If you're looking for a way to change the bearings without pulling everything apart there is a special tool made called (believe it or not) a "Sneaky Pete." I know the tool company Lisle makes the tool.

You have to take the block off and get to it first...I have a Chevy K1500 Z71 and I had to replace it but I had help.... The block is the lower part of the engine and has nothing to do with the intake gaskets. Go to a parts house or bookstore and buy a Haynes Manual and it will give you everything you need to know.

The starter motor/solenoid on a 2000 Chevy S10 Blazer is on the lower passenger side of the engine block. If your trying to replace it, first, disconnect the negative battery terminal. Remove the differential carrier shield. Disconnect the bolted solenoid cables. Remove 2 vertical bolts securing the starter motor to the engine block. When reinstalling starter, tighten mounting bolts to 50 Nm/37 lb. ft.

If you can get the oil pan off, you can get replace the bearings. Basically, remove the pan and start removing the rod caps (one at a time!!!) once you get it off, you can replace the lower bearing half easy enough. to replace the upper, you will need to slowly rotate the crankshaft at the pulley bolt.as it spins with the cap off, the upper bearing will become loose allowing you to remove it and install new. There is a lot more to it than just replacing the bearings. There is a good chance the rods will be out of round. If they are, you WILL end up spinning one of your new bearings.
