Yes you can, it depends on the offense of course. If it involves embezzelment, insurance fraud or a violent crime it won't happen. Everything is case by case and on the application answer honestly because you will be finger printed and run through FBI. If you supply court documents and disposition it will make the process alot quicker. If not they will request those items. If denied you will have the oppurtunity to plead your case in front of a panel. Everything will depend on the crime and how long ago it was. They're not Nazi's and are pretty liberal and senceable. Don't forget even if they approve you doesn't mean your company or the insurance providers will. They all will do background. I know all of this through expierence. I have some old drug and possesion of stolen property charges and it didn't stop me but required chasing around documents and prolongs the process. Typically you can get a temp license while waiting. I hope this was helpful.

They are NOT liberal. Your convictions must be at least 10 years old. You have to provide certified copies of the disposition of the case. It can take 6 months before they give you an answer.

Which state can you obtain insurance license with a felony on your record?

Every state has restrictions on what types of crimes you can have on your record when applying for an insurance license. Not all felonies however will prevent you from obtaining an insurance license. It just depends on the nature and seriousness of the offense and how strict your state interprets and enforces it. Full disclosure is required. As a licensed insurer you are also by default a "Fiduciary Agent" for the client. It is expected that you will be entrusted with other peoples money so it is important to your state licensing authority that you can be trusted not to abscond. Almost any felony involving moral turpitude such as, embezzlement, fraud, forgery, etc.. will prohibit you from obtaining an insurance license in any U.S. state.
