no. they mostly sense light and dark and the movement of shadows, but they are very god at detecting vibrations. That is why if you are on the beach, crabs can sense your presence by your footsteps from a long ways away and move quickly back into the water.
Well crabs lay eggs in the sea most the time but some types of crab lay egg in there and they mat in it as well

Well, most hermit crabs do not come out during the day, or when they know you are watching them. to see if they are alive, carefully put your fingewr nail on there claw, or blow on them. If they move it, than they are ok. If it is very stiff, they are still ok. If you can move there claw, yourself, and it is very wiggly, they are not usually alive.
