Yes, my elderly mother and I discovered we could freeze them 'picked over' but unwashed, in ice cream pails and process them later when the weather had cooled off enough that we wanted to stand in a hot kitchen! When you are ready to make jelly or syrup just run hot water over them to clean them and use in your regular recipe. You can also boil them to juice stage and freeze the juice, save the canning for later. This also takes up less room in the freezer than whole berries.
