Lyme disease can occur anywhere there are infected ticks. If a tick is carrying the lyme disease, and you get bit, no matter where you are, you can catch it.

Do you live after having Lyme Disease?

Yes. It is only in very extreme cases where Lyme Disease isn't diagnosed and treated for a long period of time that it is fatal. It isn't the Lyme Disease that would be fatal but rather complications and co-infections that could result from the disease going untreated. In some cases, Lyme Disease that isn't treated for an extended time may lead to paralysis. Most often, Lyme Disease is discovered and treated before any permanent damage is sustained.

What tick carries lyme diseases?

Lyme Disease is actually transmitted by ticks. Any warm blooded mammal that is bitten by a tick has the possibility of contracting Lyme Disease. Brown deer ticks are known for carrying the spirochete, Borrelia burgdorferi, which is the spirochete that causes Lyme Disease.

Is lyme disease an std?

No. Lyme disease is a tick-borne infectious disease. While it may be possible to get Lyme disease through sexual intercourse with an infected person, there is still research being done to prove or disprove this theory. It is not, however, a sexually transmitted disease. Some say Lyme Disease can not be sexually transmitted and that Lyme Disease is transmitted through a tick that is infected with it. However, research has proven that the lyme bacterium can be transmitted through any biting insect not just ticks. Also one of the lyme bacterium is a spirochete (Borrelia Berdorfi). A well known sexually transmitted disease is syphilis which is a spirochete.Till further studies prove this wrong I would assume that Lyme can be transmitted through the sharing of body fluids.

Do all deer ticks carry Lyme's disease?

No. Some brown deer ticks do carry the spirochete that causes Lyme disease. Lyme disease is a multi-system bacterial infection caused by the spirochete, Borrelia burgdorferi. The spirochete is transmitted from one animal to another through the bite of the infective tick.

Isn't it Angela Kinsey from The Office? Haven't a clue. But she's really good. She's pale, frail, skinny and weak. She's got Lyme Disease down. Too bad those of us with Chronic Lyme Disease don't get any respect.
