Well, we can't distinguish mushroom from being slimy or not, but you shouldn't think about eating it unless you are absolutely sure it's safe to eat. Ask a mushroom specialist, visit a mushroom themed website or buy a book.

But remember, mushrooms can be delicious, but they can be fatal to.

The slime means that bacteria has started to break the mushroom down, so they're definitely gone off. They shouldn't make you ill unless they're really far gone, though, it depends how long you've had them for. If they've only just started getting slimy then they'll be fine, they just won't taste great (but should be fine if you cook them up). If they've been sitting that way for 2 weeks then I wouldn't risk it, since it means the mould has gotten pretty far.
