Look for a backup file. It is usually found in the directory for the user profile and is labelled Bookmarks.bak. Rename the file Bookmarks.html and you should be good to go. You may have to delete the existing Bookmarks.html, but you may want to open it first to make sure hat it isn't the file ou are looking for.

How can you make sure that you will get your bookmarks back when you reinstall Firefox or format the PC?

If you uninstall Firefox and do not check the box that reads "Remove my Firefox personal data" then your bookmarks (and other Firefox settings) will be preserved because they are kept in your Profile Folder which is saved in a different location than your Firefox installation folder is so if you reinstall Firefox or update it, your previous bookmarks (and other Firefox settings) will all be intact. If you plan on reformatting your computer you must backup your Firefox bookmarks and settings to an external location such as to a USB drive, a CD, external hard drive, or use an online bookmarking service. Most online bookmarking services allow you to import your Firefox bookmarks and there some that offer automatic bookmarks synchronization between their service and your Firefox.

How do you backup files on Firefox?

Bookmarks is an easy way of remembering website we visit often. There are chances that Firefox may crash because of a new add-on installation, theme installation or any other reasons. It is always good to have a back up of data especially the bookmarks in Firefox. Taking a back up of bookmarks is pretty simple process and basically there are two methods to back up your Firefox bookmarks;Method-1:Go to Bookmarks->Organize Bookmarks in the main menu. This will open up the Bookmarks Manager window. In this window you can see all the bookmarks saved. Go to File->Export and save the file in the preferred location. The file will contain all your bookmarks and will be an .HTML file. Whenever you install Firefox in another PC or re-install in your PC, you can import all the bookmarks through File->Import and select the option From File in the Bookmarks Manager.Method-2:Second method is directly taking a back up of the bookmarks.HTML file from the profile folder of the Firefox application. To do this navigate to this folder-C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ati9z0wb.defaultIn this folder you can find a HTML file by name bookmarks.HTML. Take a copy of this file and paste it in the desired location. That's it, next time if you install Firefox, import this file using the steps mentioned above.Update: The folder ati9z0wb.default may be different for different profile as pointed out by Benedict.

Windows media player has disappeared how do you get it back?

If it has simply disappeared from the desktop, it is likely that it is still on your computer and all you have to do is recreate a shortcut by finding the program in the Start Menu > All Programs, right click and hold, drag to the desktop, let go of the right click, then select Create Shortcut Here. If it is completely gone from the computer go to www.filehippo.com and download the latest WMP. Install it and voila, it's back.

How do you transfer bookmarks from opera to chrome?

In Firefox, open Manage/Organize Bookmarks. Click Import and back up, then export as HTML. In Opera, go to Import/Export and import bookmarks. Then, double click the HTML file. Done! Also, are you making a transition to Opera? If so, you may want to consider Google Chrome. It is faster, more secure, and for many, easier to use. Give it a try! Google.com/Chrome

Where are firefox bookmarks?

FireFox BookmarksThe Mozilla Firefox browser stores the bookmarks in the Bookmarks tab, which is available on the menu bar on the top of the page. The answer posted above goes for only inside the browser. The question might have been asked with an intention of saving (backing up) and restoring the bookmarks during uninstallation/upgrade of your browser. No matter what it has to save the information into the file system, but the filetype may vary from application to application. As such, Firefox deals everything with bookmarks.HTML file! and inside "bookmarkbackups" folder. This link explains everything very neatly. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Lost_bookmarks.Recovering Your Firefox BookmarksThis is documented elsewhere, but perhaps comes across as too nerdy for some. If you're using Windows XP, recovering from a crash or whatever, and find that your Firefox bookmarks (and bookmarklets and bookmark toolbar) have disappeared, here's what to do: - Find your profile in c:\Documents and Settings\[your XP user name]\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles- There should be a subfolder there called bookmarkbackups. Find the most recent bookmarks HTML file in there (usually with a date after the 'bookmarks' bit.- Copy it to somewhere safe and rename the existing one bookmarks.HTML.- Copy it to the default profiles folder (up one level from the bookmarkbackups folder, deleting the existing bookmarks.HTML file.- Close Firefox if it's running and relaunch it. Your old bookmarks should be restored. An easier way is to find file as above in ....\profiles (bookmarks-2009-04-27.json) from old disk and copy back to same location on new disk, go to browser bookmarks then organise bookmarks (ctrl shift b) import and backup then restore your file will be there, restore this and confirm (this will overwrite existing ones) original bookmarks returned
