If a 100 ohm 1 watt resistor and an 800 ohm 2 watt resistor are connected in series, the maximum DC voltage that can be applied without exceeding the power limit of both resistors is 45 volts.

Start with power rule and ohm's law...

P = IE

E = IR

so

P = I2R

solve for current

I2 = P/R

I = (P/R)0.5

determine current at max power for each resistor R1 = 100, R2 = 800

I1 = (1/100)0.5 = 0.1 amperes

I2 = (2/800)0.5 = 0.05 amperes

The limiting resistor is R2, so calculate voltage of both at current flow of I2

V1+2 = (0.05)(900) = 45 volts

A 9.0 volt battery is connected to a 4.0-ohm and 5.0-ohm resistor What is the current in the circuit?

If a 9.0 volt battery is connected to a 4.0-ohm and 5.0-ohm resistor connected in series, the current in the circuit is 1.0 amperes. If a 9.0 volt battery is connected to a 4.0-ohm and 5.0-ohm resistor connected in parallel, the current in the circuit is 0.5 amperes.

What will happen to the other resistor if the number of resistor decreases?

the voltage across that resistor will increase if it is in series with the other resistors. the current through that resistor will increase if it is in parallel with the other resistors.

When 2 resistors are connected in parallel r1r2 are?

Two resistors connected in parallel are 1/2 the sum of their resistance. The resistance of two resistors connected in series is the sum of their resistance. For example: The total resistance of a 100 ohm resistor connected to a 200 ohm resistor in parallel is 100+200 divided by 2 = 150 ohms. The total resistance of a 100 ohm resistor connected to a 200 ohm resistor in series 100+200= 300 ohms.

You replaced your blower motor on a Ford F 150 and the wiring harness was connected to another resistor switch What was it connected to r?

The wiring harness on a blower motor for a Ford F150 is connected to the blower itself and the resistor switch that is under and/or behind the glove compartment on the vehicle. This resistor switch is a set of 3 or 4 wires connected by a plastic clip.

Does a Resistor have a different resistance when connected to a power source vs if the resistance is tested when the resistor is out of circuit?

In the circuit it is connected to other devices with their own properties that can influence your reading. Out of circuit you just measure the resistor. It has the same value both ways.
