Injection or carburetor?
Injection:very common to have one of the injectors become partially plugged and deliver a poor mixture making run poorly on four cylinders. Carburetor:The interior passages of the carburetor could be plugged Both:These symptoms are most commonly caused by ignition wires, spark plugs, distributor caps and rotors. If you mean why is an engine difficult to start after it has been sitting for a while, there are various reasons. There may be a carburetor problem or some other sort of gas line problem.
everything appears okay - what could be the cause and how do i fix
Plugged fuel filter?Bad fuel pump?
It could be a number of things, from a fuel line problem, to an electrical problem, even an air intake problem starving the engine. There are too many variables to say anything definitively, so you are better off taking the vehicle to a Ford, Lincoln, Mercury Dealer, or a 3rd party service center, and have them diagnose the problem.
Check the air filter, fuel filter, and the choke to start with. It sounds like the engine is starving air until it warms up.
If you are saying it has a fast idle speed that could be caused by a bad throttle position sensor, or a problem with the engine control module.
It could , but it would have to be almost plugged totally , to restrict the fuel flow that it was starving the engine . You could very well have another problem , but fuel filters can get very dirty and restrict fuel flow.
Yes, you can, but there is a chance that you will need to change transmission and everything what is going inside the engine. The problem is that Mitsubishi engine parts from different engines are not compatible (it can be turbo Japanese engine, or non-turbo crysler engine and so on).
If your engine is stalling when you push the gas from an idle or sitting still it can be several different things. The first thing I would check is the fuel filter. I would have it replaced. If that isnt the problem change your air filter.
Is it a big problem to have noisy tappets in your engine?
Failure in emission system - have vehicle scanned to determine problem
It could be a "slight" problem with the electronic sensors. If a "check engine" light is on, the computer has detected a problem with the sensors. You need to use a code scanner to detect the fault code.
