Why don't gameshark codes work on the mac version of a VBA?
I too had issues with using GameShark codes on my mac, but now I have fixed this problem! I made a very detailed YouTube video how to enter GameShark codes on mac, and shown a working example. I have found a solution for people looking for Emerald. took me forever... When you open VBA and it asks you which game to open, click Cancel. This does not close VBA. Go to options of VBA and click Add codebreaker/Gameshark codes(they are unable to be used while a game is on this is why you click Cancel). After you enter the codes click Ok. Then go to Open Roms and choose Emerald. To activate the codes I have found you must press a combination of keys similar to no$gba. These keys are Left and Right Option buttons on the keyboard along with the Left control button. I'm not entirely sure how it works, but it's the only solution I've found. Warning: The codes for Emerald are really buggy and crash the game frequently, by exiting VBA it will remove the codes and your game will be normal. The only codes I've found to work are the Pokemon modifiers on Supercheats.com Hope that helps. I do not have an answer but I am also interested in step by step instructions on how to put gameshark cheats into the box. Is it one line per field or one entire code in a field? I have tried it many ways and I still cannot get it to work. I am using VBA 1.7.4 on Mac OSX trying to play Pokemon Silver. What is the gameshark?
A GameShark is a gaming peripheral (i.e. a "cheat" device) that allows you to modify and manipulate certain factors and variables in a video game by inputting a series of numbers and letters in the form of a "cheat code". It would enable you to have infinite life or infinite ammunition, for example. The GameShark has taken different forms depending on the console it is used for. For example, the PlayStation iteration took the form of a small peripheral which was inserted into one of the console's ports. The next-generation iteration for the PlayStation 2 came on a CD you had to load up before you started up any video game. Most codes can be found on GameShark's official website, though there were plenty of other sites that give alternate codes. Moreover, the GameShark has competing peripherals, such as the Action Replay. Usually, the codes for one device are not compatible with the other.
