I really do not understand exactly what you mean by the wording of the question but let me try to answer it best I can. Propranolol has been getting a beating since Michael Jackson's death but administered properly it is a wonderful anesthetic. Fifteen years ago I was in a severe car wreak and I was entabated (a tube down your esophagus to make you breathe) for five days. That was the worst five days of my life. Now fast-forward to 2009. I had an empyema in my lung which is a buildup in my lung. Usually doctors can put a chest tube in your lung and drain it. Mine was so severe it had already collapsed a lung and I needed emergency surgery. I knew I would be entabated again so I begged my mother (who thank God was a nurse who worked at that hospital) to please tell the doctors to keep me knocked out while I was on a respirator. Almost four days later I woke up. I was not groggy and I do not remember being on a respirator at all. My mom came in and I asked her what they had me on? See told me it was propranolol. She said it was given through my i.v. and the only time I woke up is when a bubble formed in my line. I woke up and she tapped my line which popped the bubble and when right back out. Propranolol, like everything, is a wonderful drug if you don't abuse it. Hope that helped.

Administered by a route other than the digestive tract. This could include drugs administered intravenously or intramuscularly, for example.

The Propranolol injection is used to control fast heartbeats and abnormal heart rhythms .This medicine is a beta-blocker. It works by affecting the response to nerve impulses in certain parts of the body, like the heart. As a result, the heart beats slower and at a regular rhythm .
