Sleep effects your memory in several different ways. If you lack sleep then you could be losing some of your memories that are stored in your brain. It is very important to get the right amount of sleep to keep your mind and memory sharp.

Everyone needs to sleep in order to function during the day. Children need more sleep than adults, with the average number of hours being eight to ten. Adults can function with fewer hours of sleep, but you should try to get in at least eight hours each night. Try to keep a schedule on when you go to sleep and when you get up in the morning.

Two sleep disorders that can wreak havoc on your quality of sleep are sleep apnea and restless leg syndrome. With sleep apnea, you may actually stop breathing for a few seconds during times of deep sleep, so see your doctor if you suspect it. Restless leg syndrome is where you are unable to stop moving your legs during sleep, even when you are not fully aware of doing it. Increasing iron in your diet may help.
