Think about it for a minute. If she didn't have any grandparents, they wouldn't have had any children, which means she wouldn't have a mother and father, so she never could have been born, correct?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Please don't assume that every U.S. coin with a woman's picture on it shows Susan B. Anthony! In fact, the woman on the coin is Miss Liberty, as in "Statue of ..."

If you think about it for a couple of seconds,

(1) Her feminism was considered toxic by the male-dominated society of the time so there's no way the government would have wanted to honor her with a coin

(2) Miss Liberty's portrait is far more attractive, LOL!

Can you get Susan B Anthony dollar coin from a bank?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Of course. They're mixed in with newer "golden" (brass, actually) dollars in some change machines and from banks. They've never been withdrawn from circulation and there are no plans to do so.

The only problem is that a lot of younger clerks don't recognize them and become confused, thinking that it's a special type of quarter - the same mistake that happened a lot when the coin was first released. But because it has the same weight and electrical properties as a modern "golden" dollar coin, you can always use it in a vending machine or self-service checkout that takes $1 coins.
