Mary Poppins is about a magical nanny who comes to take care of the Banks children in London. Through her whimsical and enchanting ways, Mary Poppins helps the family learn valuable lessons about love, imagination, and the importance of family bonds. The story follows their adventures as they embark on fantastical journeys together.
London, England, and environs. This was during the short-lived infatuation with foreign settings by Walt Disney. such things as Emil and the Detectives ( Germany) Third Man on the Mountain (Swiss) and so on. what"s wrong with Manhattan?
Michael Banks was a child. his father was a bank employee, as the handle suggests. Bankers were shown in a negative light- as were indirectly Defense types such as Admiral Boom. seems a little Communistic to me.
The song "Let's Go Fly a Kite" from Mary Poppins is a very popular song and is liked by PL Travers. Many people in history sing this catchy tune.
In the story Mary Poppins the father sees nothing but work, the mother is overcome by her interests and the children are left out to be taken care of by one after another stuffy, strict nanny. They act out with bad behavior that is fixed by the parents by hiring another nanny to fix the problem. That's where Mary Poppins comes in. She fixes the problem.
Most Disney Betamax films sell on eBay for about $10-15.
Two cents a bag. This is clearly cheaper than say, phone calls. The Banks kids are relatively well off, why drag in the poverty angle? true one can have some good fun for low cost, but?
It was classed as a Musical comedy with of course, fantasy overtones. the album from the film did quite well on the album charts, as i recall. P.S. I thought it stunk and by the way do not (generally) like (Musicals) it"s odd I have nothing against music- just went to an Organ concert yesterday- but musical comedies- either the comedy is good and the music so-so or the music is okay ( Like , for the most part, Sound Of Music) but the comedy in that case almost non-existent. I saw it as a child ( first stage play I ever saw) and was baffled- a family on the lam, fleeing the police- daddy recalled to active duty in the Navy, that"s not comedy fodder!
Mary Poppins was officially born when the first book was published in London, England in 1934. However, the character probably has a very long incubancy beginning in Australia during Pamela Lyndon Travers' (born Helen Lyndon Goff) early childhood.
Mary Poppins is a movie that has been around for since in the 90's I think. It's about this family that is falling apart. The dad is a banker and spends way too much time on his job. The mom is I think in a women's right march and doesn't spend any time with her kids. They have been hiring nannies for years and they all run away since the two kids, Michael and Jane Banks, are you naughty. They finally hire a super-nanny, Mary Poppins, and she fixes them up. Her friend Bert is a man with a lot of different and weird jobs. She and Bert help the kids realize what friendship means through a lot of adventures. One of them would be going through the chalk painting into another world. It's pretty cool, but I haven't watched it in awhile. Don't yell at me if i got it wrong..............
Books based on the movie but somewhat simplified were made under Disney license and in fact ,sold in some of the theatres ( such as the now-defunct State) when the movie was playing there, akin to programs for, say ball games. It should be noted that Walter Elias Disney , as usual took some liberties with the original stories.
No. The story is fictitious and fantasy. However, the character of Mary Poppins was very loosely based on someone from author PL Travers's own childhood.
Are you talking about supercalifragilisticexpialidocious
In Mary Poppins (1964), the movie, the most obvious birds were [1] the robin sung to during "Just a Spoonful of Sugar" and [2] the pigeons of St Paul sung about in "Feed the Birds".
The whole set is installed in a huge barrel which is rolling. Fred Astaire is actually always on the ground but the room is upside down. The camera is rolling as well.
no im sry but they were not able to do that high tech stuff at the time it has been unknown how he did it an as far as i know he ever told anyone how it wsa done
The film version of Mary Poppins (1964) was directed by Robert Stevenson (1905 - 1986) who was an English film writer and director. He was nominated for the 1965 Academy Award for Best Director for Mary Poppins. He also directed the Disney films The Love Bug(1968), Herbie Rides Again (1974) and Bedknobs and Broomsticks (1971).
The songs for the Mary Poppins (1964) movie were written by the team of Richard M and Robert B Sherman. There were 17 original songs written for the movie, many of which were used in the stage play of the same name.
This is a series novel or book- not a movie or television program. the books are quite different from the film and play. For one, Bert, Mary"s paramour and sort of revved-up St. Joseph- Francis handyman type- does not appear.
Its...
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Even though the sound of it
something quite atrocious
If you say it loud enough you'll
always sound precocious
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Um diddle diddle diddle, um diddle ay!
Um diddle diddle diddle, um diddle ay!
Um diddle diddle diddle, um diddle ay!
Um diddle diddle diddle, um diddle ay!
Because I was afraid to speak when
I was just a lad
Me father gave me nose a tweak
and told me I was bad
But then one day I learned a word
That saved me achin' nose
The biggest word you ever heard
And this is how it goes: Oh!
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Even though the sound of it
something quite atrocious
If you say it loud enough you'll
always sound precocious
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Um diddle diddle diddle, um diddle ay!
Um diddle diddle diddle, um diddle ay!
Um diddle diddle diddle, um diddle ay!
Um diddle diddle diddle, um diddle ay!
He traveled all around the world
And everywhere he went
He'd use his word and all would say
"There goes a clever gent"
When Dukes and Maharajahs pass the
time of day with me
I say me special word and then
they ask me out to tea. Oh,
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Even though the sound of it is
something quite atrocious
If you say it loud enough you'll
always sound precocious
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Um diddle diddle diddle, um diddle ay!
Um diddle diddle diddle, um diddle ay!
Of course you can say it backwards though
Which is docious-ali-expi-istic-fragi-cali-rupus
But that's going a bit too far, don't you think ?
Indubitably!
So when the cat has got your tongue
There's no need for dismay (here, here)
Just summon up this word And then you've got a lot to say
But better use it carefully Or it may change your life
ah..for example (yes)
One night I said it to me girl
And now me girl's my wife!
And a lovely thing she is too, hehehe
She's.........
