Jager Bombs were actually invented during WWII. Jager came out just before the war and was vastly popular in Nazi Germany. In 1945 when the U.S. was invading Germany, a group of American G.I.s found a bombed out Jager factory and found a number of cases that were still intact. However they found the drink to be unbearable as they were not acquired to the strange taste. As a result they would pour swigs of Jager, into bottles of Fanta which was also created in Nazi Germany during the war and then chug the drink before the two mixed and the taste of the jager consumed the entire beverage. They called the drink a jager bomb because of the "explosion" it caused in their stomachs, but at the time liquor wasn't widely available to the troops so jager bombs were there only options. After the war they brought the idea home with them, and for a few years in the late 40's and into the early 1950's so called Jager Bombs were hugely popular. They were considered a symbol of the U.S.'s victory in Europe and unfortunately in the fifties the drink fell out of popularity and was all but forgotten. It wasn't until the 2000's with the invention of red bull, that the drink found a resurgence.
