Horses also can see in blue and yellow as well. There are only a few animals that cannot see in any colour at all: Seals, sea lions, walrus' and animals from the Cetaceafamily (whales, dolphins and porpoises) have only one cone type (which is called being Monochromatic).

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Dogs most definitely are not color blind including Labrador retrievers . There are some differences in their vision from that of humans, but -- contrary to popular myth, their eyes contain both rods (cells that detect light and movement but not color) and cones (which detect color and need more light than rods do in order to activate).

Are Humming Birds Color Blind?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

No they are not color blind. In fact, they are attracted to the color red which is why they frequent red flowers and they like feeders that have red on them. Many flowers that are red, have a lot of nectar and are tube-like have evolved to attract hummingbirds as their primary pollinator.

I am not sure if they see a full range of color but I know they at least see red.

How do you know dogs are color blind?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

There are two ways to research an animal's ability to see colors.

One is by dissection.

The retina in the eye contains cells that react to incoming light, and different cells react to different colors.

If an animal hasn't got the kind of cell that reacts to red colors, then that animal can't see red.

Since dogs are easy to train, one can also test their color vision experimentally by trying to train them to recognize different colors.

It's a bit tricky, since they have a very good sense of smell. If the colors were to smell differently, they might use that to figure out what they're expected to do instead.

Current research indicates that dogs aren't entirely color blind, but that they have poorer color vision than humans.

How you tell chickens apart by color?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

That question really makes no sense. If you have a black chicken and a white chicken, I think it's very easy to tell them apart. If you mean telling chickens apart that are the SAME color then 1. mark them with something such as a sharpie or paint or 2. wait until they grow older. Most likely they will appear and act much differently from each other because chickens have different personalities like we do, depending on how they are cared for as chicks.

Is chicken color blind?
