How do you get your book considered for an oprahs book club book?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I would like to contribute for discussion and answer how to get my book submitted to Oprah's book club. I have taken a quiz on the net and my points added up concerning TV spots, newspaper articiles, and notoriety to the public at large. My book is considered historical fiction/romance and is based on family members just prior to the Civil War and I have been told by my publisher that the best quality of my books are the characters who become alive and real. Once you are introduced to them, you do not want to leave them. Therefore, it has become a four book series that is being considered for Television miniseries. If I could find an open door I would walk through it and consider the books worthy of recognition as well as family entertainment and containing nothing vulgar or unseemly for the entire family. Thank you, Cheryl Loftice Gillman Published and available on every bookstore sight in all countries.

What is habitual lying?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I, although have no medical experience, do believe it is. My whole life has been a lie. My mother lied to me till the day she died. My ex husband lied to me throughout out 12 y marriage, and my younger brother is just as bad. And it isn't about anything important. It seems as though most of it is to make themselves look beter. Their lives aren't as important as they would like them to be, so lying and making themselves out to be something else, feeds their egos. Its really sad, because they actually don't understand the impact their lies have on the ones aroud them.

What is the process of addiction?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Addiction can result from many factors. For one, some people have a genetic predisposition to addiction. Also, social factors are involved. For example, people who are raised around addiction are more likely to experience it later in life. The physical cause for addiction to drugs is induced Dopamine secretion, which rewards our bodies for taking drugs by making us feel good. However, when the Dopamine receptors are overloaded, our body produces less Dopamine naturally. Therefore, it is now less likely that the person will feel as good naturally. This encourages the addict to take more drugs in order to feel good again.

Why do people gamble all the time?

User Avatar

Asked by Alexieangel

Most people gamble because they see gambling as a quick and easy way to make money.

While the previous answer is correct, there is much more to it. Gambling can be very addictive. To some it is the thrill of "beating" the house or another player (poker). Some people gamble in casinos because they enjoy the interaction with other players, some people gamble because they want to be the one to hit the mega jackpots, and some people gamble because they are truly addicted to gambling. The worst thing that could happen to a person who makes a bet the first time is to win, it gives them the false sense of being a winner and that they can always win, thus they become addicted. People that gamble "all the time" are addicted to gambling and need help in overcoming their addiction.
