There is no central protagonist in Game of Thrones. However, there are some characters that can generally be considered one of the primary characters:

• Daenerys Targaryen
• Jon Snow
• Tyrion Lannister

There are several others, including Jaime and Cersei Lannister, Arya Stark, Eddard and Robb Stark and even more.

It certainly has horror elements, with zombies and lots and lots of brutal killings. But, primarily, it is not a horror series and instead a fantasy thriller/drama.

Though it sounds like his death was a fluke, Varys surmised that if it had not been the boar, Robert would have died from a 'fall' from his horse, or a hunting arrow gone astray. Either way, he was doomed. He soon died from his injuries.

There are a multitude of fantasy books out there besides the Game of Thrones series, depending on your tastes. The Xanth series is great if you enjoy your fantasy with a sense of humor, and you can't swing a baby dragon in a library without hitting some other fantasy book series.

Game of Thrones is an HBO produced series. Check to see if your cable provider carries HBO. You can also watch it through the HBO Go application available for iPhone, Android, Amazon Fire TV, Playstation, etc.

Game of Thrones has premiered in early April each season. It is likely that HBO will stick to this schedule.

The show is about an hour long. So depending on the start time for whatever timezone/country you are in it will end about an hour after that.

I do not know of any shows that are similar to TheLord of the Rings, but if you are wanting more books like LOTR (The Lord of the Rings) try reading the Binding of the Blade series by L. B. Graham. The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis is also good Fantasy but The Binding of the Blade series is a lot more like LOTR.

A Storm of Swords picks up the story slightly before the end of its predecessor, A Clash of Kings.
