Is self esteem the same as conceit?

These concepts have some similarity but they are far from being the same. The term conceit means an overestimation of ones own self worth; conceited people think too well of themselves, and are not as good as they think they are. Self esteem means an appreciation of ones own value and usually is used to indicate an accurate assessment, rather than an overestimation. Any person who is not worthless (and very few people are worthless) should have some self esteem.

How fashion help you in your self-esteem?

To be honest, fashion doesn't really help you with your self-esteem. In the term self-esteem is the word "self." So confidence and all that comes from yourself. It comes from the inside, not what you wear or put on. That said, sometimes if you are in an emotional funk, then updating your wardrobe and style might help. If dressing nice will motivate you more to go out with friends and have a good time, then by all means do it. Fashion might be enough of a crutch to help you take actions that will improve your self-esteem.

What do you do to raise your self-esteem?

Self esteem stems from self image and knowing what you are capable of. Self image is tricky, but your capabilities can always be expanded. Set reachable goals for yourself. Short term ones. Go knocking them out one by one until you feel confident enough. Set one BIG LONG TERM GOAL. Plan out, on your own, every single step you need to take to accomplish your goal, almost as if it's a to-do list. Make each of those baby steps a small short term goal, and as you go you'll see your self image improve as well as the self esteem as a whole. By the time you reach your long term goal, you will have an incredibly high, healthy self esteem.
