∙ 12y agoIt is easier to carry a person in a pool or any body of water for that matter because the density of our body is about the same as water surrounding us. An object will float if its density (mass/volume) is less than that of water, and sink if it is more.
On land, our bodies are much more dense than the air surrounding us. That is why we stay grounded and don't float up like a helium filled balloon which is much less dense than air.

Basically, the water in the sea is more viscous than that in the swimming pool, meaning that it is more dense. This is because of the concentration of the water (it contains salt and many other substances that makes it more concentrated). Therefore, people can float more easily in the sea.
