∙ 14y agoA generator creates electricity from another form of power, usually kinetic. A transformer changes the electric voltage in a circuit, e.g. 240V to 12V

The difference between a commercial power generator and a regular power generator is that a commercial one is much expensive than the regular one. It's much better to purchase the regular generator if your not planning to use it for business purposes.
no a transformer is not an electrical machine. electrical machine is one in which the process of electro-mechanical energy conversion happens e.g motor, generator. therefore mechanical motion is always there in a machine.Engr. Saif Ali Solangisaif.a.khi@gmail.com
the difference between pelv and selv is that pelv can have a protective conductor(earth)and selv cant.

Generators actually generate current and transformers convert between current and voltage.
An electric motor converts electric energy to mechanical energy while a generator converts mechanical energy to electric energy.
A generator bus is the bus that connects the generator to it's generating transformer.
A generator bus is the bus that connects the generator to it's generating transformer.
Really oversimplifying it: an electromagnet converts electric current to a magnetic field and an electric generator converts mechanical rotation to an electric voltage. An electromagnet has no moving parts while an electric generator is composed of a stationary part called the "stator" and a rotating part called the "rotor". An electric generator may contain either permanent magnets or electromagnets, depending on the type of generator.
An electric generator converts mechanical energy to electric energy while a motor converts electric energy to mechanical. A generator can actually act as a motor if it losses whatever is making it spin (called "motoring"), which is usually a very bad thing. Motors may be used as generators as well, depending on their design.
A motor is a machine that converts other forms of energy into mechanical energy, therefore creating motion. A generator converts mechanical energy into electrical energy via the method of magnetic induction. You should probably check up Michael Faraday and Lenz. Or maybe look in a HSC Year 12 text book like Jacaranda.
Power transformer is used step up or down the voltage for the electricity transmission while furnace transformer is used to melt the metals and ores in the electric furnace.
A gas generator generates electricity and can be used as a backup in a power outage. I am not certain what you mean by an electric generator. If there was a power outage, how would an electric generator work?
At a minimum, the main step up transformer for a generator should carry 105% of the full MW output of the generator.
A generator can produce energy if a CME occurs. A transformer could blow and cause your power to go out. but they both have something to do with power and energy.
