The difference between a disposable and digital camera is that a disposable camera gets its photos developed and is disposed after it's use. A digital camera lasts for the life of the camera and can store its high quality photos inside its memory.

It’s not often that old technology resurfaces and threatens new technology. While it might be a rare event, it’s actually taking place with cameras. This is in regards to disposable cameras versus digital cameras. Digital cameras still have a big lead, but many people are starting to question if that really makes sense. People are beginning to wonder if they have been led toward digital cameras with advertisements, word of mouth, and trend. Let’s take a lot at the pros and cons for each option.

Digital cameras are obviously much more expensive. That might be a negative, but there are many positives as well. The biggest positive is that you can put digital photos online and send them to friends and family. But is that really an advantage? Let’s look a little closer. Many people might think this isn’t possible with a disposable camera, but it is. All you need to do is have the pictures developed and scan them. You can send pictures to anyone you would like – without having to sign-up to a picture-service site.

Which type of camera is more durable? That’s easy – a disposable camera. If you drop a digital camera, you’re going to have to worry about a $300 investment going down the tubes. If you drop a disposable camera, you don’t have to worry about any damage being done. And even if it did happen to break, in most cases, it costs less than $20. Another advantage is that if you lose a digital camera, you might disappointed, but not distraught.

How about ease of use? Does a digital camera offer an advantage in that category? Let’s see … wheels, focus, buttons, battery power, and other confusing functions versus pushing one button. Many would choose to go with the latter.

If using a disposable camera, getting the pictures developed will cost extra money. This is something you won’t have to worry about with a digital camera. However, it would take a lot of developed pictures to reach your digital camera investment.

As far as quality goes, you will get standard quality with a disposable camera. What you get with a digital camera will depend on what type of photo printer you use. That said, many people never print their photos and keep them on the computer, which leads to a whole other conversation. Sitting and looking at pictures by yourself can be nice, but wouldn’t you prefer to actually hold them and view them with your family? Something to think about.

What are five disadvanges of using a digital camera versus using a film camera?

Digital cameras have many great advantages -- and some definite annoyances. As digital cameras improve and prices drop, these following concerns are likely to be addressed before too long ( hope): 1. Digital cameras are prone to mechanical breakdown with even a small bump on a hard surface. Generally, film cameras are more forgiving. Also, electronic failures are maddenlngly common. I have nine Nikon, Canon, Casio, Pentax, and Panasonic digital cameras ranging from $250 to more than $1,000, and all but one is disabled from electronic failure and in need of repair that is probably not cost-effective, given the pace of tech advances. Still, the entire camera is rendered useless and you've effectively lost your purchase price. 2. Normally, extended warranties on electronics are not worth the cost. However, because of the low reliability of digital cameras as I mentioned in Item 1 above, when you buy a digital camera, get a store-serviced extended warranty for at least 3-4 years if it doesn't cost more than 1/4 to 1/3 the price of your camera. 3. It takes big bucks to get a digital camera that will equal a good film SLR in accurate rendition of color tones, contrast latitude, and lens (not pixel) resolution. 4. What you save on film cost (digital photos don't cost extra) you'll likely use up in repairs and in buying newer and better digital cameras across the years. 5. New models are rushed out so fast that it's likely your digital camera's firmware is defective upon your buying it, and it needs an update from the factory website. I've noticed, however, that some mfgrs are VERY poor on making these updates, so you have to live with the defects. Grrrr. That's not all, but you asked for only five reasons. :-)

What are the benefits of a digital picture versus film?

A digital picture enables you to have a higher resolution than film, especially if you want a very large picture. You can also email and share digital pictures more easily, and there is no need to process pictures either.

Why are digital thermometers used these days?

Digital thermometers have replaced mercury thermometers because mercury is toxic. [Personal commentary: digital thermometers are not accurate and mercury thermometers are so how many people are being harmed by not knowing their temperature versus how many would be harmed by the mercury if accurate thermometers were still used?]

What's an analog or digital fax?

analog faxes are sent in the same principles of an analogue television, with each scanned line transmitted as a continuous analogue signal. horizontal resolution depended upon the quality of the scanner, transmission line, and the printer. Digital faxes are digital formats, and take advantage of digital compression methods to greatly reduce transmission times. To simplify it it's like the quality difference in watching regular antenna tv versus digital cable. Digital is clearer.

Can video cameras take pics and videos?

When dealing with digital camcorders each different design and make has different features. Not all camcorders will have the ability to take digital photos. Some have a photo mode, which basically means it freeze frames the footage and saves it to be viewed as an image. However if you are filming at the time it momentarily interrupts the flow for roughly 5 seconds and the quality versus a camera is considerably reduced too.
