Spice, also known as K2, is a newer street drug . It is a synthetic blend of chemically treated, smokable leaves. It gives a marijuana type high. Some people are claiming that it is safer than marijuana, but there were about 1,500 calls to Poison Control about this drug in 2010. Side effects have been reported to be elevated heart rates, seizures, heightened blood pressure and intense feelings of agitation and paranoia. Many states are beginning to pass laws against it.
