I have had clients who have gone out that night and done a little drinking. It comes down to common sense, you don't want to be over doing it. Alcohol dehydrates the body and will make swelling a bigger issue than it already is. If you choose to go out have the bar maid bring you some ice water, suck on the ice through out the evening and try not to over do.
Some will go off about yeast and infections, well that is a load of BS and nothing to be concerned about. The yeast in beer and bread are not of the same type to cause a yeast infection. But things you do need to remember is don't hyper extend your tongue to show it off, this will annoy your tongue and the piercing, promoting inflammation and swelling. Cold water rinse any time you smoke or eat anything, cold stuff as often as possible to help keep the swelling down. Original Listerine and other mouth washes should only be done twice a day, in the morning and before bed.
Sea salt rinses may help, but can be tasteless and gross and really don't do much for the piercing so that's up to you. Just use common sense with food and aftercare, nothing too spicy or too hot or foods that involve a lot of chewing for the first 4 or 5 days. Dairy products are something you should avoid, yogurt and ice cream are not a good due to the residue they leave behind which can also promote swelling. Just use your head and everything should be good. ibuprofen and midol or Advil for oral use to reduce swelling may be a good idea as well.
you should not drink alcohol until about 1-2 weeks after you get your tongue pierced; as alcohol will slow the healing process by killing important bacteria that actually help the piercing heal. it is best to only drink beer or no alcohol at all until this time period has passed.
it's really not advised before your piercing has had a chance to heal properly..same goes for mouthwash, if it has an alcohol content. if you do drink alcohol BEFORE it's healed, you can induce an infection, and some nasty swelling
Alcohol is a blood thinner and it increases swelling around the piercing and bleeding. But, its advised that you drink only clear alcohol. Not sure why.
Yes. but you cant drink, smoke. or eat anything that is hard.

It is against the law to get your tongue pierced in this state.
There is no length requirement for getting your tongue pierced. Anyone can get their tongue pierced with the exception of people that have their own personal and/or medical reasons.
i wouldn't clean a tongue piercing with peroxide. when you first get your tongue pierced you're suppose to clean it with antiseptic mouth wash and you are suppose to drink liquids for a whole week when you first get it pierced.
