Beer does not dehydrate you. At 5% alcohol by volume the amount of water in beer will compensate for the alcohol. I did a study taking my water content in the morning and drinking heavily throughout the day (equivalent of 10 beers). Absolutely no water was consumed throughout the day, just beer The following morning, over 12 hours since the last beer was taken (so I have peed all I could), the water content in my body was exactly the same as the previous morning. "Exactly" meaning to the tenth percentage. Given that my water content remained the same clearly indicates that beer does not dehydrate. With a lower alcohol content - say 4.2% for light beer it is properly concluded that your body would actually hydrate. Hope this helps. And by the way, I don't recommend that level of consumption - you should keep it down to 3 or 4 beers a day unless you want to burn out your organs.
