The selection of the strain of yeast can be very important in winemaking. Different yeast strains will provide different qualities that can affect taste, odor, and alcohol percent by volume. Some yeast strains are more tolerant of higher alcohol while other strains (such as baker's yeast) will result in a wine with less alcohol.

No, there is no yeast content in matured wine. The yeast produces alcohol in its living process in a medium like the grape juice. As the level of alcohol increases in the Grape Juice or any other medium like the molasses, its rapid growth by multiplying (approx. 1 x 250 p/sec.) would slow down to reach a stand still. The perfectly matured or aged wine

would contain no live yeast. The yeast is a unicellular micro organism belongs to the vegetable kingdom. The champagne is nothing other than the white sparkling wine.

Beer is usually made by fermenting malted barley. This is the barley seeds which have just sprouted, and are high in a sugar called maltose. Yeast take this sugar and convert it to alcohol in a zero oxygen environment. If oxygen were present, they would instead make vinegar instead.

Different yeasts are used to make different beers, such as ales, lagers, stouts, etc.

Yeast is also used to make other Alcoholic Beverages such as wine and liquor. Without yeast, no alcohol would be made, and no one would get drunk.
