you will see 4 black square modules on each valve cover with wires going to them along with a plug. undo the plug, and you will need a small nut driver to undo the one screw that holds it in place. Then you will be able to pull straight up, (it may take a little tug) on the module and it will all pull out. down at the bottom you will find your plug.
with a socket. the spark plugs should all be into the head making it alot easier to change. it should take less than a hour and replacing the wires would be a good idea. be sure to replace each wire and plug one at a time so you dont lose the firing order..this would be bad. just start with one wire and plug then put it back together and then go to the next wire and plug. be sure to replace it with the same plug. they have platnium tip spark plugs and are good for 100,000 miles. i would suggest going right to the chevy/ gmc dealer and buying it from them. be prepaired, these spark plugs are not cheap should run $7.00 TO $10.00 A PIECE!!
you HAVE to remove the intake manifold to change the spark plugs. If you aren't comfortable with this, you should take it to an authorized repair shop and have them do it. It is a 3.5 rocks out of 5 on the hardness scale.
I own a 2001 Toyota Spyder MR2. I usually let Toyota change the plugs, but decided to do it myself. Question: Where are they hidden??? I took the cover off and nothing was there but 4 electrical latches (?). Please help! Thank you.
THE SPARK PLUGS ARE LOCATED UNDER THE IGNITOR COILS, WHICH ARE NEXT TO THE FUEL INJECTORS ON TOP OF THE VALVE COVER. REMOVE THE SINGLE 8MM HEAD BOLT SECURING THE IGNITOR, AND REPEAT PROCEDURE UNTIL ALL EIGHT BOLTS ARE REMOVED. ROCK IGNITOR ASSEMBLY BACK AND FORTH WHILE PULLING UPWARD, ASSEMBLY SHOULD COME OUT REPEAT UNTIL ALL EIGHT ARE OUT. IN SOME CASES OTHER COMPONENTS MAY NEED TO BE REMOVED IN ORDER TO ACCESS IGNITORS, SUCH AS EGR VALVE, AIR INTAKE HOSE AND POSSIBLY INJECTOR RAIL. YOU SHOULD NOW BE READY TO REMOVE PLUGS. USING A 5/8 INCH PLUG SOCKET WITH SUITABLE EXTENSION REMOVE PLUGS. BE VERY CAREFUL AT THIS POINT NOT TO DROP ANY NUTS, BOLTS OR OTHER DEBRIS INTO SPARK PLUG HOLE. I RECOMMEND DOING ONE PLUG AT A TIME IF YOU NEED TO STOP DURING THIS PROCESS MAKE SURE TO STUFF A RAG IN HOLE. IF ONE OF THE IGNITOR BOLTS SHOULD DROP INTO THE CYLINDER YOU WILL MOST LIKLY BE REMOVING THE HEAD. I'VE SEEN THIS HAPPEN. MAKE SURE TO USE THE CORRECT AUTOLITE PLUG. EVEN IF THE GUY AT THE PARTS STORE SWEARS THAT BOSCH WILL WORK BETTER AND SAVE YOU MONEY. INSPECT ALL THE OLD PLUGS FOR SIGNS OF OIL OR GAS FOULING. RULE OF THUMB IS IF ANY PLUGS ARE BLACK OR WHITE AT THE ELECTRODE YOU PROBABLY HAVE A MISFIRE OFTEN CAUSED BY IGNITOR OR INJECTOR FAILURE OR OIL CONSUMPTION. IF ALL PLUGS ARE GENERALLY THE SAME COLOR YOU SHOULD BE ALRIGHT . TORQUE PLUGS CORRECTLY IF TO TIGHT THEY WILL SEIEZE IN THE HEAD AND IF TOO LOOSE THEY'LL COME OUT AND CAUSE A LOUD EXHAUST LEAK TYPE NOISE USUALLY MANY MILES LATER AND AT THE WORST POSSIBLE TIME. THIGHTEN PLUG TILL IT CONTACTS THE BASE AND THEN TURN AN ADDITIONAL 3/4 OF A TURN. REVERSE PROCEDURE AND REASSEMBLE. THE JOB SHOULD TAKE ABOUT AN HOUR. IF YOU KNOW ANYONE IN THE AUTOMOTIVE BUSINESS TRY AN OBTAIN A MITCHELL ON DEMAND PRINTOUT EXPLAINING THE ENTIRE PROCEDURE FOR YOUR YEAR AND MODEL VEHICLE. OR GET A HAYNES SERVICE MANUAL AND FOLOW IT STEP BY STEP. IT MIGHT SAVE YOU A LOT OF MONEY IN THE LONG RUN. HOPE THIS HELPS. IM A FOREIGN CAR TECHNICIAN, BUT HAVE WORKED ON FORDS FROM TIME TO TIME SO I MAY HAVE MISSED A FEW MINOR DETAILS. HOTWRENCH

you'll be able to get a socket on all the plugs, even though it seems impossible. You won't however be able to put the wratchet on it, but use a wrench that will grab your socket firmly.
Faulty/fouled spark plugs or spark plug wires. I had this problem and a set of new wires fix it.
get under the car and do it from there. you will have to put socket in first then the extension, then the rachet. that is the only way i did it. I just got done. On the left side (standing at the front facing the back) remove all of the air intake stuff, 4 bolts. On the right side, remove the washer fluid tank, 2 bolts and 2 connectors. Took me about 25 minutes including new plug wires.
If you have a v6 engine, you'll need a size 8 socket. First remove the three screws that hold the black cover on top being careful to not drop them. Next, you'll see the first 3 plugs with wires attached to them. These are the distributors for each plug. unplug them by squeezing the ends of the caps and pulling them off straight to the side. You will now loosen the distributor caps with the number 8 socket w/ extension and pull off the cap. You will find the spark plug under them which requires the small spark plug socket and extension. Do this one at a time with the engine cooled down otherwise it makes it difficult to unloosen them. Reverse the process to install them. Finally you'll have to undo some of the top manifold and some of the hoses to find the other 3 towards the middle of the engine closest to the firewall. You shouldn't need any gaskets as long as you are careful when pulling the top plastic manifold off. Be organized and remember where all the screws go when reinstalling the manifold and vacuum hoses back to the original areas. I did mine and took only about 15 minutes. Good luck!
