Answer2: 91% alcohol you get from the drugstore and the supermarket is excellent for killing germs. Most of the hand sanitizers have 65+ percent of alcohol. Stay away from those hand sanitizers with triclosan.

Rubbing alcohol won't kill these parasitic fungi. (They're not really worms.) Topical antifungal drugs containing miconazole, clotrimazole, terbinafine, butenafine and tolnaftate, many available without a prescription, are used to clear up the infection. Brand names include Micatin, Tinactin, Monistat, Lotrimin, Bentax, and Lamisil. Generic equivalents may be available. So says our friends at Wikipedia. The link is provided.

Ring Worm is not actually a worm, but a skin infection caused by a fungus. Ringworm thrives in warm, moist areas of the body such as the groin and foot. It is highly and can be spread from human to (or animal to human) through contact as well as through linens and clothing.

As ringworm is not caused by a bacteria, antibacterial hand gels do little to get rid of the infection. While most antibacterial hand gels are drying to the skin thereby providing a less hospitable place for the ringworm fungi to thrive, the use of special anti-fungal soaps and creams is recommended.

If you think you have come in contact with the ringworm fungus, wash all linens and clothing in special anti-fungal soap using hot water. Wash your skin with anti-fungal soap. If symptoms develop, treat with anti-fungal cream. If symptoms persist or worsen, see your doctor as you may need anti-fungal pills.

Rubbing alcohol probably does not kill the ringworm fungus. You have to immerse the brush in very hot water. Alternately you have to keep the brush immersed in 70 % alcohol for hours to make it free of ringworm fungus. The practice of rubbing the alcohol to your arm before giving injection is also questionable. Bacteria are not killed by such a short exposure to alcohol. The healthy skin does not have enough bacteria to create problem, when you pierce a skin with sharp needle.

You should only use alcohol externally, never on mucus membranes (such as the vagina) or internally!
