The moon currently recedes from the earth at a rate of 2.16 cm per year. The reason is due to tidal friction. A hundred million years ago, when there was only one super continent, this friction would have been less, and the recession rate would have been smaller.

Well, one of the theories to how we got our moon was that the moon was once something like an asteroid, but then it smashed into the Earth, and then got trapped in Earth's orbit and became a satellite of it.

No, that was an old theory that was soon abandoned. Both bodies are too large (almost a twin planetary arrangement) to be seriously affected by an asteroid. That is, affected as far as planets and their satellites are concerned, it may destroy all life on earth, but that is not a major consideration, to astronomers.

No, the moon and Earth are completely separate land masses. The moon is an asteroid that is kept rotating and close from Earths gravitational pull. Studies show Earth could have had several moons in the past. We may get a new moon at any time, however its hard to get an asteroid that size.

No. If that had happened, then Mars would not exist today. The moon was formed by a collision between Earth and a planet called Theia, which is estimated to have been about the size of Mars.
