heater core may be leaking, check to see if liquid is antifreeze, use a white cloth to see if fluid is green or pink. smell may also indicate what the fluid is. if you are low on antifreeze in radiator that may be the cause. a heater core can be purchased at any auto parts store & can be installed by anyone with general knowledge of tools & automobiles. The wetness can also becoming for the air conditioner. If this is happening during the summer, that is probably the cause. Check and see it any of the drain holes are plugged up with leaves or dirt. I believe either the evaporator or dryer is also behind the dash.

I, too, just recently discovered this problem. A couple weeks later I discovered the entire passenger side was full of water. Hey, that nicely constructed, one-piece carpeting makes a great sponge it turns out!! Pull down the carpet in the front to look for water. I'm willing to bet you have it there, too. It's either the a/c water discharge hose is backed up or you have a rainwater leak somewhere. You can find plenty of info on the fix for the a/c hose clogging. You'll have to drill a hole through the plug, ect. You can find past recall notices on this very problem with very specific instructions to cure it. (or you can remove the entire dashboard) A water leak will just take time. In my circumstance, I read on this site, pulled the carpeting back some in front, sucked out all the water I could, and then used the a/c to see if it happened. After a week, I'm convinced it's a leak somewhere else as there's been no leak from simply a/c usage. But last week I drove from Indy to Hammond in a horrendous downpour for 3 hours, and later found the water in the back seat and - lo and behold - actually the entire carpet was soaked. This carpeting can hold a lot of water!!! So check it out, and good luck to you. After 227,000 miles on my '97 JGC Laredo, this really is the only real problem I've had, so I guess I shouldn't complain...

What you're seeing is an air conditioning system that's all plugged up. The evaporator box that condenses the water from the inside air (this box also contains the heater core) is located on the firewall up by the front passenger side. This is a black box that sticks through the firewall by the passengers feet. Inside the condensor box is a thin styrofoam liner that is designed to prevent condensation from forming on the outside of the box. Water drawn from the inside air collects and is supposed to drain out the bottom and down to the ground. Also inside the box are coolant lines that come from the radiator to make hot air via the heater core during the winter.

So this is the problem: The styrofoam liner breaks up and goes into little pieces and the air that is drawn though the evaporator box has lots of dirt in it and all that stuff clogs up the system. In typical systems the dirty water goes from the bottom of the condensor box to the ground via a rubber hose but in our Cherokees this water drains from the bottom through a little hole and into a frame member. Cherokees are built on a unibody and therefore do not have a regular frame under them. When all these parts become clogged with styrofoam and dirt the system backs up, the condensor box fills up with water and it leaks all over the passenger floor and beyond.

The fix? Sadly, because of this poor engineering, the whole dashboard has to be removed in order to get to the condensor box to clean it. While the dash is apart the air ducts should be cleaned of any styrofoam etc and the heater core should be replaced. At any AC/Heater shop this job will take at least a day or two and will cost you around $2000.00. This will be, for a 95 perhaps more than the vehicle is worth.

Wiki is full of other fixes that can be done which include things like drilling a hole in the bottom of the evaporator box and running a new hose through the floorboard etc but if you want to do it right, the dash has to come out. I tried that once with one of my previous 95 Cherokees and it sat in the driveway for two weeks while I tried to figure out what screws to take out next and I never did get it done completely right. This will not be an afternoon project if you decide to do it yourself. Bear in mind that if you decide to drill a hole in the condensor box that the heater core is immediately on the other side of the plastic and if you put a hole in that with your drill you'll have a much bigger problem than water on the carpet.

Where is the internal fuse box located on a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

I don't know for sure about the 1995 but on the 1997 it is on the inside panel on the passenger side, just above the floor board. If you are sitting in the passenger seat, it is by your right foot. On my 1994 it is on the end of the dash, behind a little door/cover, that is only accessible when you open the passenger door. Not near the floorboard.

Why is the passenger floor of your 96 jeep grand Cherokee wet from the air conditioning?

b CAUSE U HAVE A LEAK There could be a body plug that has came loose or fallen out completely. Get up under ypur vehcile and check for any holes. if there is one missing. replace it. I had this happen in another vehicle right after the windshield was replaced. The windshield wasn't sealed properly. After a heavy rain, I had about an inch of water on the floor board. After I took it back and had them reseal the windshield, the problem was gone.

What can cause water to leak in on the passenger side floor board and rear passenger side floor board of a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix only does this when the air conditioner has been on?

air conditioning can cause moisture in the air to condense, especially around vents where the air is moving at high speed. If you live in a very humid area, this could be caused by the air conditioning being so cold that the moisture is condensing out as soon as the cold air meets the warm, damp air. Try running the air conditioner at a higher temperature setting, or on 'normal' instead of 'max'. The more likely senario is that water is leaking in from an area below the windshield under the hood. There is box (under the plastic cover at the bottom of the windshield on the passenger side) that allows air from outside to be pumped inside. If you have this area open you will a see foam seal painted the same color as the vehicle at the base of the box. This so called seal dry rots and GM knows this; however, the seal cannot simply be replaced from what I was told by a windshield replacement shop and a dealer. It is riveted together and must be cut apart and then reassembled. This issue caused the blower motor to seize after the leak corroding the internals of the motor itself.

How do you keep the air conditioner from leaking inside the front passenger floor board of a 1998 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo?

If you are sure it is water and not coolant, then the A/C Condenser drain line is stopped up. You will find it near the firewall on the passenger side. Look for a tube under the Jeep. If it is coolant, which will taste sweet, your heater core is leaking and must be replaced.

How do you repair a wet floor board in a Jeep Grand Cherokee?

If its on the passenger side, it is probably the air- conditioner condenser drain plugged up and this is not good. From what I have read this is better left to a qualified Jeep mechanic. when the drain gets plugged up, the water that normally drips into the body, frame area collects on the passenger side floor. Unless someone knows a cheaper fix. Its 1000.00+ at a dealer.
