Make sure the front seat is not reclined. If it is, the rear seatback may not fold down all the way.
To lower the rear seatback, follow these steps:
Disconnect the rear center lap-shoulder belt latch, if equipped, by using a pointed object to press the release button.
Pull forward on the seatback tab located on the outboard side of the rear seat cushion to fold the seatback down. This gives direct access to the trunk.
Caution: If the seatback is not locked, it could move forward in a sudden stop or crash. That could cause injury to the person sitting there. Always press rearward on the seatback to be sure it is locked.
Caution: A safety belt that is improperly routed, not properly attached, or twisted will not provide the protection needed in a crash. The person wearing the belt could be seriously injured. After raising the rear seatback, always check to be sure that the safety belts are properly routed and attached, and are not twisted.
What you have to do is pull the little leather or cloth hoop to open the seat cushion part up then you pull up on the seat cushion, it will come out of the slot on the floor of the Jeep. Once the seat cushion is out then pull the plastic handle to make the seat come down and VOILA!!! I just did it like.. 3 minutes ago lol >.<
On my 2002 GC-loredo the head rest folds down to a horizontal position using the arrow button at the base of the head rest. The seat back can then fold down into a flat (horizontal) position after raising the seat bottom up.

first, you need to get everything out of the back seat, and off the floor. Before you can fold the seatback down, you need to flip the seat cushion up and forward. There are lifting loops made of vinyl tucked-in beside the seat (both sides) between the seat cushion and the side of the car. The seat cushion pulls up and forward, and will rest against the backs of the front seats, resting on its forward edge. The first time you do this, it may require a pretty strong tug. The jack and tire tools, and a small storage area are located under the seat.
Then you can fold-down the rear seatback. Unless you have very long arms, it takes two people. Just behind the top of the rear seatback, on both sides, are latches you pull on to release the seatback. The trick is, they both need to release at the same time. Pull them both to release them, and you should be able to pull the seatback down flat, resting upon the seat-cusion you folded down previously. Lots of people who need the storage space, and never use their back seats, ride with this configuration all the time.
