How do you reset the perform service light?

push the select then set button additional info : The above answer only applies if the perform service info is coming from the optional vehicle info system (which also shows open doors and broke tail lights etc) and not a dash light near the speedometer. If its the light near the speedo you have to get the code checked to find out what is happening, do the repair and reset the light. I believe you can rent a code reader from most local part stores and just reset the light but if there is a problem the light will just come back on again. An editorial: I hate all vehicles with black boxes and computers...which means almost all cars made in the last 20 years. I think the best thing to do is to buy a late model, drive it for two years and dump it. I sure wish I could afford to do this but I can't. Instead I drive 10 year old vehicles with 150000 miles on them and spend a lot of time trying to figure out stuff like this. I guess it keeps me out of the bars......

I have a 2000. I just got an oil change today and I had to reset the service warning. I went to the screen that read 0 miles to service and pressed the reset button. This set the service schedule back to my preset interval of 3000 miles. Hope this helps.

Using the buttons to the right of the steering wheel for the dashboard computer (compass, fuel consumption, etc) -- look up the function of each button (I can't remember off hand) in the owner's manual, select the service interval desired (5,000 miles, 2,500 miles, etc) and then push reset button. The "Perform Service" light is a voluntary reminder light, not indicative of an engine problem. Good Luck. On a 2008 you turn ignition on, with engine off, and press the gas pedal to the floor three times to reset.

The only way to reset this is by having someone with a computer based error reader reset it for you. This is usually available at no charge at most large parts stores. If the check engine light comes back on again it will be indicative of an ongoing problem with your Jeep that needs attention. The parts store can also read any history from the cars computer and steer you in the right direction to fix the problem. Buy your parts from them because this free service is very valuable to all of us who don't want to shell out the cash that it takes to buy our own reader.

Turn ignition on, engine off and shut all doors. Press the step button until 0 miles to service is displayed. Press and hold reset until display changes to normal service interval.

to reset the service light push the select button on the console until it saya 0 miles left then hold both buttons until it says 3000 miles until service. this should only take approx. 30sec.
