Why would the radio not work on a 1995 Ford Explorer even though the fuses are good?

First take off the panel by popping off loose covers and pulling out the screws. You should then be able to pull the radio and look on the backside of the radio. The radio should have a fuse inserted there. Check to see if the fuse is blown and replace it.

∙ 9y agoThe radio on a 94 Ford Escort won't work if the fuse is blown, the wiring harness has been disconnected, or the radio is defective. Verifying that it is getting power is the first step to troubleshooting.

∙ 18y agoThere is another Fuse. A (room) fuse. Also , there is another fusebox above the visible on in the drivers side floorboard. only consists of 6 fuses. May be optional on some models.

Is the radio playing? If so, it could be the bulb is burned out, or the grounding needs to be checked out. Replace all the fuses even if they seem not blown it worked for me!

Does a Xm radio have a fuse?
All devices in an automobile have fuses if attached to the electrical system. If the XM Radio was factory then it should be controlled by the radio fuse in the fuse lock. If it was added to the vehicle at some later date, it could be connected just about anywhere there is a switched battery connection. If you are not sure how to check anything like this, your best bet would be to take it too someone that installs them.

Did you check the fuse in back of radio? and you might have more fuses under hood of car that may have blown out. my car has fuses inside and out under the hood also. If all fuses are good then you just smoked your radio.

The fuse panel is on the drivers end of the dash ( the removable plastic cover is visible with the drivers door open ) and there are fuses and relays in the POWER DISTRIBUTION BOX in the engine compartment ( Ford states to disconnect your battery before servicing anything in the PD BOX , which means your Explorer would have to relearn its idle , the clock and radio stations would have to be reset etc )

I'm not a mechanic, but I believe the GEM (generic electronic module) controls the operation of the warning lights and chimes, among other things on your Explorer. It should be located in the centre stack area of your dash, either to the left or behind your radio, visible when the radio is removed. It has plug in wiring harnesses connected to it.

Did you Chevy the fuses for the radio? i had the same problem before. i bought a whole new radio and it still didn't work and i just thought i would check the fuses and one was blown and put a new one in it and it worked fine afterwords. If it is not the fuse check the wiring harness that plugs into the radio it should go underneath the dash, but if the fuse is not blown and all the wires are plug in and grounded u might need to put a new radio in it. but don't just check the radio fuse. even no if its not blown the other fuses have stuff to do with it i would just check all your fuses and see what happens after that.
