Joe Theismann played professional football for 15 seasons, 1971-1973 with the Toronto Argonauts of the CFL and 1974-1985 with the Washington Redskins of the NFL. He played in one Grey Cup (59th, losing to the Calgary Stampeders) and two Super Bowls (XVII, defeating the Miami Dolphins and XVIII, losing to the Los Angeles Raiders).
One, that being Super Bowl XXIX in 1995 when he was MVP in the 49ers 49-26 victory over the San Diego Chargers. Young was the backup to Joe Montana in Super Bowls XXIII and XXIV.
