Calcium is an important component of a healthy diet. A deficit can affect bone and tooth formation, while overretention can cause kidney stones. Vitamin D is needed to absorb calcium. Dairy products, such as milk and cheese, are a well-known source of calcium. However, some individuals are allergic to dairy products and even more people, particularly those of non Indo-European descent, are lactose-intolerant, leaving them unable to consume dairy products. Fortunately, many other good sources of calcium exist. These include seaweeds such as kelp, wakame and hijiki; nuts and seeds (like almonds and sesame); blackstrap molasses; beans; Oranges; amaranth; collard greens; Okra; rutabaga; broccoli; dandelion leaves; kale; sardines; and fortified products such as Orange Juice and soy milk. The calcium content of most foods can be found in the USDA National Nutrient Database.1

Your bones need calcium and vitamin D to stay strong, and milk has both. It's always better to get those from real food instead of just supplements. Also, your body needs vitamin D to properly absorb calcium, so having both in milk is very helpful. Milk is also a healthy source of protein and fat, which are both important components of a diet. If you only plan on dieting and not exercising you'll need your bones to stay as strong as possible, but I would suggest exercise as well. Be sure to still eat a higher percentage of Carbs vs. Fat or Protein as well, because Carbs are needed to burn the fat that is already stored in your body, and no/low carb diets were a very bad phase that will hopefully pass.
Your diet should be made up of 55-60% Carbs, less than %30 Fat, and 10-15% Protein.

Milk is not a complete diet. It is a good source of protein. 6 cups of milk would meet your body's minimum daily needs. But, milk lacks essential vitamins and minerals; and it provides no fiber. And, whole milk is high in unhealthy saturated fat, so we really should be talking about drinking low-fat or no-fat milk. Your body needs about 70 grams of fat daily, which really ought to come from an unsaturated source other than milk. Also, in order to meet your body's daily carbohydrate needs, you would need to drink at least 25 cups each day; and what carbohydrates milk does contain are mainly sugars, with practically no desireable complex carbohydrates.
