because its addictive, that's why the consumer feels like they need more
It depends what you mean. if you mean drugs, there are stuff like nicateen in them and crap to make you addicted. if you mean Video Games, (maplestory often) its because you feel you do not like your real life, or want to escape it. if you mean sexual addiction, such as watching porn on internet, it's because hormones in your body begin to crave that stuff, which is inapropriate. overall, addictions, have something to do with your body/life

∙ 14y agoWell, some drugs, like opiates (heroin, morphine, oxycodone, etc.) and alcohol are physically addictive, meaning there are physical withdrawal symptoms. A person who has been drinking or using opiates all day, every day, and then suddenly quits, will get very, very sick. So, obviously, it is very hard for an alcoholic or an opiate addict to quit these drugs, since doing so makes you so horribly sick.
In fact, withdrawal from alcohol can easily kill you. Withdrawal from opiates can kill you too, but it is a rare occurrence. Death from alcohol withdrawal is much more common.
Other drugs -- like cocaine, Ecstasy, speed (amphetamines or methamphetamines) -- are not physically addictive, but they are extremely chemically addictive. In essence, they make your brain crave more of them.
Even less harmful drugs, like marijuana, can be addictive. Marijuana is not physically or chemically addictive, but it can be psychologically addictive. A person who uses it every day becomes so accustomed to being on it, that they begin to feel normal when they're on it, and they feel distinctly abnormal when they stop taking it.

∙ 9y agoAddiction means that your body craves the drugs - that's why it's such a bad idea to start using that sort of drug in the first place. They actually make your body want more and more until you OD and die.
