Blurriness is caused by the light being too scattered upon the retina or the light not quite reaching the retina. So squinting blocks some of the light and may bend some of it as well.
In some cases, you might be able to squint hard enough to push in the cornea some, which would help with nearsightedness and some cases of astigmatism.

Well, if you squint hard enough in your telescope, you should see the Big Dipper. Once you have located this, squint a little harder to the left, and you should see the Cancer constellation. Once you found Cancer, squint harder at to the mid left star. This is 55 Cancri. After that, squint harder, and you should see a solar system. That is 55 Cancri solar system, which contain 4 orbiting planets. One should look like an oversized Earth. Now squint harder at that, and you should see a continent that looks like someone mashed Africa and the Middle East into a rather hastily country island. Squint harder again, and you should notice a depression between the mountains around the right most of said continent. Squint even harder, revealing a city.
