White spots on your nails, for the most part, happen when they are damaged, primarily when they are still developing underneath and behind your cuticle. Another common reason is lacking Zinc in your diet, which can sometimes cause white marks to appear on you nails, usually for a prolonged period of time.

There are two main reasons white marks appear on you nails, either they are 'bruises' which appear if you have bumped or knocked your fingers whilst the nail is developing, the white marks will only last a few days or weeks and usually only appear on one or two nails. If the white marks are on all of your nails and are there for a prolonged period of time then this is usually a symptom of zinc deficiency which can be treated with Zinc supplements.

You get white spots or marks on your fingernails because of calcium deficiency. Like maybe you haven't had milk in a few days, you get them. You can make them go away by then drinking milk. Milk makes your fingernails grow faster. So over the course of 3-7 days the spots will gradually move up your nail to the point of where you can cut them off because you would have to cut your nail anyway. Hope this helps :)
