Women are complicated beings. Men who are in good health could theoretically be ready, willing and able to procreate (make a baby) several times a day 24/7 365 days a year.
Women on the other hand, have about 12 hours every month to conceive. The discharge that occurs every month is called cervical mucus. The type of mucus is directly related to the rise in estrogen that tells your ovary to prepare an egg to be released in anticipation of conception.
Most woman notice a lack of mucus in the days following their period. As estrogen increases your cervical mucus increases building up to ovulation you will notice it becomes more slippery and clear. The last day of slippery mucus signals ovulation will usually occur in 24 to 48 hours.
After you ovulate estrogen drops and progesterone rises. Your cervical mucus becomes sticky, thick and cloudy to white. Slight variations that are normal to you are of no concern.
So basically that discharge is to let you know all is well in your fertility. Observation of changes in cervical mucus is one form of natural family planning. Letting you know when it is or is not safe to have sex or the best time to have sex if you are trying to conceive.
Some vaginal discharge is normal and some is a sign of infection. The most common is the yeast infection which is thick ,white ,and itchy. An over the counter cream is in the drug stores that will help clear a yeast infection. You use it for 7 days to clear it.
The reasoning behind vaginal discharge is to clean out your female organs. It may look dirty, it is. It hold all the toxins from your female organs. It's simply your body's way of making sure your female organs are nice and clean.
Brown or white to pinkish discharge is normal during pregnancy. This type of substance is also common during the first stage of labor. If there is pink vaginal discharge for an excessive time, it may possibly be vaginosis or vaginitis.
If you haven't had your period yet than that means that your body is preparing for it. You will get your period in 3mo to a year. If you haven't gotten it by then see a doctor. It's normal. I'm guessing that your 11, 12, or 13. If you have already gotten your period then it will come between periods. You can wear a pad to keep it from soaking through your panties.
Vaginal discharge is how the vagina stays clean and healthy, thus you get it every day starting from puberty. Vaginal discharge has an acidic pH to kill harmful bacteria, it keeps vaginal walls protected, and flushes out dead cells.
