Really, I would recommend an honest and direct approach. Once you start dancing in corners, hiding the truth, you start on a slippery slope to deception and lies.
Speak openly about your feelings and hopefully he can accept them. However, never compromise your mental health due to an infatuation with a partner.

Or, "I didn't like it when you said this/acted this way." If your boyfriend is right for you, you two should be able to talk about it openly. Otherwise, it's not a very close relationship..
