they are thready like substance like bulb filaments on the food we consume.They r important for clean and perfect digestion,it is important to consume fibrous food at least once in a week as it helps in cleaning up our alimentary canal ,When food passes through out intestines it may get deposited here and there so fibers act as a cleaning brush to wipe out waste deposits
