If you are spotting a week before your period what does that mean?

Well, its pretty simple. If you are spotting, you are spotting. If its your period you will be bleeding constantly. When womnen spot it is usually just spots of blood, not even enough that you have to where a pad or tampon. When on your period, you would not dare walk out with out one. Lastly,a period can last for maybe a week at the most, spotting can last on and off for ever.

∙ 15y agoSpotting can be caused by a number of reasons. It could be the onset of your period. It could be an hormone imbalance. It also can be caused by fibroids or uterine polyps. To find out for sure, it would be best to see your doctor.

Menstruation is triggered by the drop in progesterone, as the levels of progesterone drop the uterus starts to shed - starting with very light bleeding, that then gets heavier as the levels of progesterone continue to drop. Spotting is normal during menstruation.
