Is it normal to randomly miss your period if you're a virgin?

There are several causes for a missed period. Stress seems to be one of the bigger ones. Another could be an infection, and sometimes it just happens with no apparant cause. If it persists or you have pain you should definitely talk to your doctor.

If you are still a virgin and haven't had a guy come near your vagina, then you aren't pregnant. You may need to see a doctor, there could be other problems. I'v heard of a few people who didn't get their period and had to get a some medication to start it up again. I suggest going to your doctor. I don't know of anything that would cause you to skip a period for three months. There are a number of causes of "secondary amenorrhoea", which is what you are describing. It is quite possible that it is due to a hormonal imbalance, and your doctor can easily run blood tests to check for levels of sex hormones (LH, FSH, oestradiol, prolactin and TSH are the normal tests). This imbalance could indicate a problem with the ovaries or with the hormone-producing glands in the brain. There are also simpler causes of not having periods such as not eating properly, excessive excercise (some professional athletes have this problem) and stress. All of these are just as important to address. Without knowing more about you, it is difficult to assess the most likely of these causes. There are several reasons why you might miss a period.

If you have been having sex you could be pregnant. Take a test.

If you are young it may be that your periods have not yet settled into a regular pattern.

If you are older you may be entering the menopause.

Illness may casue you to miss a period, even a bad bout of the flu can do it.

Stress may cause you to miss a period, moving house, going to college, death of a loved one, getting married.

Over-exercising such as training for a marathon may cause you to miss a period.

Rapid weight gain or loss can cause you to miss a period as well.

If there is no apparent reason, you miss another period and you are worried, go to the doctor.

If you're in your teens irregular cycles are normal as a result of your body developing and hormone imbalance. At any age things such as stress or ill health can delay ovulation and thus delay menstruation. The odd late period is nothing to worry about, but if you go over three months without a period see your doctor to determine the cause and discuss how to fix the problem.

I will go for the pregnancy test. You can be virgin and still get pregnancy due to mutual handling of genitals with your boy friend. I spotted the three months pregnancy of my student this way. If there is no pregnancy, the missing period may be due to psychological stress.
