Heroin comes from the opium poppy. the majority of it comes from the Middle East where poppy production is very large. THey wait fo the poppy seed pop to ripen, then they walk through and slice the skin of the pod to allow a white milky substance to ooze out, when it oxidizes it turns black, that is opium. The main ingredients in opium are morphine and codeine. The opium is refined into morphine, and then the morphine, with the addition of glacial acetic acid, is turned into heroin.

Alot of people do not know, that heroin, when metabolized, is morphine. By the time it hits your brain it is morphine. Heroin is simply diacetyl-morphine and is still prescribed in some countries as a legitimate pain killer available at the pharmacy. The only thing that sets heroin and morphine apart is the addition of an acetyl group in the heroin molecule. That extra acetyl group helps heropi penetrate the blood brain barrier much quicker than morphine, making it MUCH MUCH stronger.

Heroin, a semi-synthetic opioid, is synthesized from morphine, which itself is derived from opium poppies. It was first synthesized in London in 1874 by the English chemist C. R. Alder Wright. However, heroin did not become widely known until 1897, when it was re-synthesized by Felix Hoffmann, a chemist for the Bayer pharmaceutical company in Elberfeld, Germany. It was the Bayer company that named the substance "heroin" and marketed it to the public between 1898 and 1910.

Herion is derrived from the hardened sap of the Opium Poppy, Papaver somniferum. The stems or corpuscular fruit are sliced finally, a tiny bead of sap forms and hardens. This is mechanically processed into opium. Various chemical processes can be used to produce morphine or its stronger variant, heroin, from there. The poppy was originally indigenous to Turkey and surrounding regions, but has been transplanted effectively into the far east.

The name heroin comes from the Bayer pharmaceutical company after one of their employees, Felix Hoffmann rediscovered it while trying to produce codeine. Bayer would name the substance "heroin", probably from the word heroisch, German for heroic, because in field studies people using the medicine felt "heroic".
