i think that if they wish to, they should be able to.
Another view:
It seems the first answer was either written by a child, a person who has no children, or has no interest in the well being of their children. NO - children should NOT be allowed to watch anything they want.
While it's perfectly fine for children to watch some TV programs, there are some which children should not be allowed to watch. And, as parents, it's their responsibility to monitor what their children do watch, and not use the TV as a 'babysitter.
Children are exposed to far too much violence and sex on TV, which can result in them becoming desensitized to those things, causing them to feel the need for further violence in what they watch for stimulation or entertainment. That's only one of the ways in which violence leads to violence.
If kids watch extreme violence on TV not just while they are still in their formative years, but also when they are young teens, it can result in them experimenting with things they do watch. There have been many instances where a child saw a violent act on TV, then 'acted it out', resulting in their death, or the death of another child.
Parents need to be responsible in what they allow their children watch on TV, and only let them watch age appropriate programs. TV's have parental controls so parents can easily control what their children watch, even if they are not present while the child is watching TV.
Many families have more than one tv in their household simply because it can be convienient. If one person does not like what another is watching, they are able to go to another room to watch what they would like.
Everyone has there own times but they normally range around 7-8 hours of sleep. It is smart not to watch TV, play video games or drink anything with alcohol or caffeine within 1 hour of you going to sleep.
You want to put on weight!? But all you have to do is eat yummy food and sit back and watch tv all day
TV has become a perverted way to kill the mind. I use to watch TV alot but then i started to see more and more disturbing things on it. I've actually accumulated fears from TV watching. Of corse its not all TV's fault. I personally have come to hate and despise certain acts of things just from watch TV and getting a veiw of how things work in the world on the screen. TV can be entertaining at times but i would say be careful what you watch. If that answers your question. I dont know if you meant what illnesses can occur but I guess if you were to name my illness it would be a phobia of certain things. A discust I could have lived my whole life without wanting to ever know. Well that is what Television does to me. Sheesh, I shound so dramatic. Sorry. Don't mean to be. TV has different effect on different people. Im just a extra sensitive person, I suppose. My thoughts can also hypocrit me while I write a book. Lol
Children have a good imagination, because they don't care about what others think. they think of what, in their mind, goes together with the situation, or things they have experienced or watch happen. such as the game: Mommy and daddy, or going to the gas station. and they just pretend like things are what they want them to be. they are not embarassed by anything.
children should watch cartoons in television or not
There is no reason why they SHOULD watch any!
No. Children need things other than TV.
ANYTHING!
Yes, because children love to watch t.v.
yes because sometimes you need to watch the news and if you get in trouble and you have to go to your room then you could watch you tv
reality tv is not good for children because reality tv is not educational they say bad words and fight and children follow that
A lot. They should really be more active. But boys watch about 20 hours of TV a week, and girls watch about 19.
It depends on your outlook. Some people believe that children should watch a very scarce amount of television and others believe that television is good for children to watch a large amount daily. I think there shouldn't be a limit as long as their homework and chores and other things are completed.
watch tv, swim, play games such as pool. just about anything most people can do except more.
It has been said that unrealistic TV (i.e. cartoons that show violence etc.) are bad for children's health but realistic programmes like documentaries can be good. Of course it is a case of checking the content- some documentaries aren't suitable for children so be causious with regards to what they watch. Also be careful with the timings they watch TV for- TV should be watched in moderation- (i.e. don't let them watch hours of TV a day). A maximum of 2 and a half hours of TV a day would be plenty.
Some say that young children should not watch any TV. School age children can watch limited amounts, but for school days, no more than a half hour, since there are so many other things to be done before bed on school nights.
