It is unknown how many people have died from overdose on Psilocybin/ hallucinatory mushrooms. Usually people are injured or killed while experiencing "a bad trip" or negative psychological reaction to ingestion of the mushrooms.
None. It is physically impossible to overdose on psilocybe mushrooms. These mushrooms typically contain 0. 2 to 0.4 percent psilocybin and a trace amount of psilocin, and a dose is usually 1.75 to 3.5 grams, so before you could eat the lethal amount of these chemicals you would vomit. If there are any mushroom related deaths they are from accidents due to intoxication, rather than overdose.
None are addicted to Magic Mushrooms the way someone is addicted to Opium.
A small number are addicted to Magic Mushrooms the way someone is 'addicted' to using a cell phone. The use it compulsively and it interferes with their life.

It is fine to eat fresh magic mushrooms. Mushrooms are dried so they can be stored for much longer periods of time. It is extremely important to properly identify any mushroom before you ingest it.
Mushrooms grow back in the same place each year because even when they are cut down the roots are still there so next year they grow back.
