It can very from 1 day to five weeks! It has a connection to genetics, but genitics on how long it will be isn't always accurate. Try asking your mom or older sister how long their first period was, and then you can have an assumtion on what to expect.

Normally periods last for about five days and some people's periods can last up to 2 weeks! So that is quite a big range, so it all depends on your cycle.
